Breath work & Meditation:

Journey towards greater Awareness

Having participated in meditation retreats involving up to eight hours of daily practice, Felix is delighted to explore a broad range of techniques with you, from guided visualisations to quieter practices that leave more space for silence and introspection.

With roots stretching back thousands of years, meditation invites us to explore our inner experience. As with physical yoga, the key is to remain curious and discover approaches you find meaningful and deeply fulfilling.

From a yogic perspective, meditation is a return to our natural clarity: not something to grasp or force, but what emerges as the distractions of the mind settle. Rather than pursuing a particular experience, we learn to recognise what is already present beneath the noise.

The yogic path to meditation

In the Yoga Sūtras, Patañjali describes eight interconnected limbs, guiding us from ethical foundations towards deep meditative absorption. The first two, yama and niyama, cultivate harmony with others and ourselves through conscious conduct, personal discipline and self-reflection.

Within this framework, āsana develops steadiness and ease, supporting a comfortable seat for meditation. Prāṇāyāmabrings conscious regulation to the breath, while pratyāhāra turns attention away from sensory distractions. As attention steadies, concentration (dhāraṇā) deepens into sustained meditation (dhyāna) and, ultimately, profound meditative absorption (samādhi). Together, these practices offer a progressive path towards a quieter mind and deeper awareness.

Ancient practice, contemporary understanding

Alongside its spiritual traditions, meditation has become a subject of psychological and scientific research. Evidence suggests it can support stress management, mental wellbeing and sleep. Its practice also invites us to recognise habitual patterns and respond to everyday life with greater awareness.

Neuroscience offers another fascinating perspective. Studies, including research co-authored by Joe Dispenza, have observed changes in brainwave activity during meditation. Rather than chasing an “ideal” brainwave state, we explore how different practices influence the quality of our experience.

Breathwork offers another way to explore the mind–body connection. Research involving Wim Hof has examined how breathing techniques, meditation and cold exposure can influence physiological stress responses. In our practice, the emphasis is on awareness, steadiness and resilience rather than extreme feats.

We look forward to sharing these practices with you online — creating space to pause, reconnect and grow towards a more conscious, resilient and fulfilled version of ourselves.
